In March 2019, Joseph Smith obtained a defense verdict in jury trial alleging excessive force by a police officer when the police officer performed a takedown of the plaintiff as the plaintiff was handcuffed. Successfully used surveillance video at trial to demonstrate that the plaintiff had tried to pull away from the police officer before the takedown. Herschel v.
