Shannon M. Cottrell

Shannon Cottrell began her legal career in 2011. Over the years, she was employed in various capacities but ultimately exceled and worked her way up from a Legal Assistant to Litigation Paralegal to Senor Appeals Manager. These early years really cemented her love for the law and the desire to become an attorney, ultimately leading to her enrollment at Chicago-Kent College of Law. During her time at Chicago-Kent, Shannon was a member of the Trial Team Honor Society, Civil Litigation Clinic, Mediation Clinic, she took Intensive Trial Advocacy training, and became a Certified Mediator. Shannon also held a Judicial Externship for the Honorable Robert Dow, Jr., U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois where she researched federal case law and helped draft legal memoranda, among other tasks.

After her admission to the Illinois Bar in 2022, Shannon briefly worked as an Associate at another firm practicing ERISA law before joining Clark Johnson & Knight, Ltd. Since joining the firm, Shannon has worked on a variety of cases including construction liability, cases involving serious injury and death, insurance defense, road collisions, and municipal defense. She has experience in case evaluation, extensive discovery, and motion practice.
